DANVILLE - Margie Reva Shafer, 80, of Danville, went to be with the Lord at 11:48am, Tuesday, August 21st, 2007, at Provena USMC. She was born on October 31st, 1926, in Ary, KY, the daughter of John C. and Mary (Campbell) Smith. She married Alva Allen Shafer, Jr. on September 4th, 1943, in Bellmore, IN. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on September 4th, 1993, with friends and family at their home. She is survived by: her son, Robert E. (Terri) Shafer of Danville; her two daughters, Linda S. (Eddie) Cox of Catlin and Diane C. (Gene) Cox of Danville; her daughter-in-law, Shirley Shafer of Tilton; her sister, Geneva (Ira) Combs of Crofton, KY; her brother, James (Judy) Smith of Argyle, IL; her thirteen grandchildren, Brandon, Brandy, Luke, Jason, Denise, Kevin, Brian, Amber, Shaun, Heather, Shane, Jason, and Chad; and her 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-Glen Peanut Wayne Shafer, three brothers, and two sisters. She worked at General Electric for 34 years and as a beautician in her home for many years. She was a member of the DanGE and the Vermilion Valley Quilters. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and baking pies. She had a love for Boston terrier dogs and loved working with beautiful flowers and plants. She loved to be with her family and will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, as well as, all of her great grandchildren. She attended Catlin Church of Christ. A celebration of Margies life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, August 24th, 2007, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, IL. Her grandson, Minister Kevin Cox, will officiate. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday, August 23rd, 2007, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery next to her son. Memorial donations may be given in Margies name to American Heart Association, 208 S LaSalle, Ste 900, Chicago, IL, 60604-1197, or the Catlin Church of Christ, W Vermilion St, Catlin, IL 61817.
