Margery Lillian Gieseke, 94, passed away at noon on Wednesday, October 06, 2010, at the Hoosier Village Retirement Center in Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Park Ridge, IL on August 8, 1916, the daughter of John and Selma (Schmeltekopf) Schultz. On July 2, 1936, Marge married Werner August Gieseke. They spent 36 years together until his death in 1972. Survivors include their two children, Georgianne (Michael) Kent of Indianapolis, and Jim (Linda) Gieseke of Danville. She also leaves five grandchildren: Catherine Kent, Michael (Amber) Kent, Pam Gieseke (Mark) Roberts, Brian (Tina) Gieseke, Kristin Gieseke (Dariusz) Smigielski, and ten great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Orlando and Norman Schultz, one sister, Lorna Thulin, and one granddaughter, Jennifer Kent preceded Marge in death. She graduated from Maine Township High School in 1934. In 1939, Marge and Werner moved to Danville, where they later established their business in 1945. She worked alongside her husband for 27 years at Autotron, Inc., which manufactured industrial Electronic Controls. She continued working in the business until her retirement in 1988. Marge and Werner were always strong supports of Danville. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville Country Club, Salvation Army Womens Auxiliary, and an area chairman of United Way. Marge also served several years on the Board of Directors of the Second National Bank of Danville. She enjoyed being a troop leader for the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She will be buried alongside her husband Werner, at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum in Danville. A memorial service for Marge will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 824 E. Main Street in Danville on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 3:00pm. Pastor Kent Tibben will officiate at the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marges name to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Werner and Margery Gieseke Scholarship Fund c/o DACC Foundation, 2000 E. Main Street in Danville.
