Margery Ann Stuart, 88, passed away at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Liberty Village, in Danville, IL. She lived in Danville for about 77 years. Sixty-three of which, she lived on Franklin St., in two homes that were one block apart. She was born on October 28, 1932, in East Orange, NJ, to Emmett Wade and Lou Alice (McClananhan) Farmer. On October 4, 1952, she married James Milton Stuart. He proceeded her in death, as did her parents.
Survivors include her brother, Rev. Robert Farmer, of Canajoharie, NY, her two daughters, Laury E. (Keith) Youngquist of West Dundee, IL, and Jeanne E. (Rod) Pierce of Maryville, TN and her two sons, David C. (Debi) Stuart of Silver Spring, MD, and Sam (Cheri) Stuart of Gainesville, FL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Max Youngquist, Harmony Youngquist, Britney Stuart, Ashley Stuart, Haley Stuart, Alex Pierce, and Sami Pierce. In addition, she has two great grandchildren, Caius and Rowe Youngquist.
As a child, Marge lived in seven different places. When she was in 8th grade, her family finally settled in Danville. She loved to read and would carry stacks of books home from the library. After graduating from DHS, Marge attended Lakeview School of Nursing, from 1949-1952. She worked as an RN for a few years, and then stayed home with her children for a few more. She was a PTA volunteer, helped with Girl Scouts, and was active in St. James Church. She sang in the church choir, for about 25 years, and was in Circle 10. She also loved to play bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs, over the years.
For 12 years, starting in 1969, Marge worked in the Lakeview Hospital Nursery, attending to sick and healthy babies. She liked the nursery, but decided she wanted to teach nursing. While working full time and with children still living at home, she went back to school. Marge got her BS in Nursing, in 1981, her MS in Perinatal Nursing, in 1985, and almost got her Doctorate. She believed in life-long learning and was instrumental in the evolution of Lakeview School of Nursing to Lakeview College of Nursing. At the time of her retirement, she was an Associate Professor, the Director of Assessment, and taught Maternity Nursing.
A service to celebrate Marge Stuart's life will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Pastor Randy Robinson will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, also at Sunset. Face masks are encouraged but left to the discretion of each individual. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, in Danville.
