Margery A. Ingram, 87, of Danville, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, April 7th, 2012, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Margery was born on September 17th, 1924, in Danville, the daughter of Cloyd H. and Martha (Seiter) George. She was previously married to Carl E. Smith in 1946; from that marriage they had one daughter, Marty Smith. He preceded her in death in 1974. She later married Marion Ingram on December 28th, 1963, in Danville. He preceded her in death on June 30th, 1996. She is survived by a daughter- Marty Smith of Ormond Beach, Florida; two sisters-in-law- Rita Barnes of Danville and Bonnie George of Danville; three special nieces- Sandy Dunbar of Oregon, Karen West of Danville and Gina George of Westville; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends Carla Smith of Danville and Shirley Lamm of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, three brothers- Cloyd M. George, John R. George and Dwight C. George, two sisters-in-law- Marilyn George and Doris George and three nephews- Douglas Dunbar, Freddy George and Dwight George. Margery attended Cannon Grade School and later graduated from Danville High School in 1942. After high school, she enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during World War II. She later attended business colleges in St. Petersburg, Florida and Danville. She was a longtime member of Second Church of Christ and took part in Widow's Might and Young at Heart. She was also a member of American Legion Post #210, Teamsters Retiree #26 and Illinois Women's Bowling Association. Margery worked at R & S Printing, Steel Grip Glove Company for 28 years, Elton Wagner Construction Company for 3 years and Shurgain (Golden Sun) Feed for 10 years, until she retired in 1987. She was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues in all the ally's in town. Lincoln Lanes was a sponsor of her team from the time they opened until she had to quit bowling for health reasons. She loved to travel and bowled in 29 National Bowling tournaments throughout the states and many state tournaments. She was honored to be elected to the Danville Women's Bowlers Hall of Fame. She loved spending her winters with her daughter in Florida. She was an avid Illini Football and Basketball fan. Margery and Marion hoped to attend baseball games in as many baseball fields as possible. They made 12 of them before he passed away. A Celebration of the life of Margery A. Ingram will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Kiley Garrison officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park, with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #210. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 Wednesday at the funeral home.
