Margarete Shannon

Danville- Margarete G. Shannon, 87, of Danville passed away at 9:33 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at her residence. She was born on November 15, 1922 in Berlin, Germany. She married Luther P. Shannon on March 8, 1946. Surviving are five children Shirley Shannon, Ruthford Paul (Debbie) Shannon, William R. (Rebecca) Shannon, Rose Evelyn (Eldon) Blair, and Charles (Susan) Shannon; eight grandchildren Traci King, Angela Orr, Aaron Shannon, Christopher Wood, Courtney Montel, Gretchen Hurst, Max Shannon, Melissa Wood, Justin Smith, and Paul Ardaji; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson Ryan Wood. Margarete worked for a number of years at restaurants throughout the area, most notably Swabodas Diner and the Brown Derby. She had a good time no matter what it was she was doing. She enjoyed shopping, crocheting and going out to eat. Margarete especially loved spending time with her family. A graveside service for Margarete Shannon will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Danville National Cemetery in Danville. No visitation will be held. Per Margaretes wishes, the family requests no flowers. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
