Margaret O'Connell

Margaret D. OConnell, age 90, of Loganville, GA, formerly of Danville, passed away at 1:25 EST on Monday, July 27, 2009 in Loganville. She was born on July 27, 1919 at her Grandma Emmas house in Danville, IL the daughter of John Chick and Nelle Avis (Pate) Hale. She married James Willard Willie OConnell on August 7, 1943 in Winona, Mississippi. He preceded her in death in 1962. Margaret is survived by one son: James W. Jim OConnell of Monroe, GA; a daughter: Gloria (Nier) Sochia of Cascade, CO; two granddaughters: Jennifer Lynn (Andy) Wells of Manitou Springs, CO, Melissa (Dwayne) Thompson of Hoschton, GA; and three great grandchildren: Taylor Victoria Thompson, Emma Elizabeth Thompson and Chase Howard. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Margaret graduated from Westville High School in 1937. She attended Utterback Business College and then after her husband Willie passed away she attended Danville Area Community College. She worked for Hyster in Danville retiring after seventeen and a half years of service. Margaret moved to Loganville, GA fifteen years ago to beat the cold and be closer to her family. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and collecting dolls. Margaret really loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She looked forward to the many activities she would partake in with her Westville High classmates. All that knew her will sadly miss her. A celebration of the life of Margaret OConnell will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville with Jeannie Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the funeral home.
