Margaret 'Maggie' J. Murphy

Margaret Maggie J. Murphy, 72 of Danville, passed this Life on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born in Danville, IL on September 9, 1937, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Koch) Mayer. On December 31, 1961, Maggie married Virgil Murphy in Danville. He survives along with their six children, Lynn (Tom) Juvinall, Pam (Kevin) Vehlewald, Keith (Jamie) Jennings, Teresa Hamer (Robert Douglass), Larry Murphy, and David (Laurie) Murphy. Her 14 grandchildren, Justin Juvinall, Christopher Stuebe, Joshua, and Adam (Jamie) McCoy, Trevor, Kylah Jennings, David Hamer Jr., Jason Hamer, Tiffany Ford, Jacob Douglass, Corey, and Ethan Murphy, David Ryne (Jasmine), and Bethany Murphy, her 11 great-grandchildren, her sister, Marie (Tom) Farrell, and her good friends, Jim Mouse (Sharon) McMahon,and her special brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Mary Jo Murphy also survive Maggie. Her parents, one daughter, Lori Murphy, and one nephew, Chuck Russell, preceded Maggie in death. Maggie worked in the cafeteria at the East Park Elementary School in Danville, and also at the Illini Skating Rink in Danville. She was a lifetime president of the PTA. She enjoyed roller skating, bowling, going to flea markets, car shows, collecting owls, watching the hummingbirds, and was a huge Jeff Gordon Fan. She will be missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Margaret Maggie J. Murphys Life will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will began at 10:00 am until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to either the Carle Hospice Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
