Margaret 'Maggie' Ann Brown

Margaret Ann "Maggie" Brown, 89, a resident of the Eastern Star Home in Macon, Illinois, and formerly of Danville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Eastern Star Home in Macon, Illinois.


She was born June 1, 1935, in Danville, Illinois, daughter of the late Sherman and Grace (Norton) Taylor.


Maggie married Louis "Pete" Brown on January 14, 1956, and he preceded her in death on January 25, 1974.


Survivors include her daughters: Donna (Jack) Starkey of Westville, Illinois and Diane Hall of Georgetown, Illinois; her son: Michael (Cindy) Brown of Tilton, Illinois; her grandchildren: Jerry Brown of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Brittni Hall of Georgetown, Illinois; her great-grandchildren: Addy Grande and Aurora Brown of Homer Glenn, Illinois; her step-grandchild: Beth Lawson of Catlin, Illinois; her step great-grandchildren: Kala (Kevin) Flinn of Bloomfield, Indiana, Kimberly McCorkle and Kassie McCorkle of Catlin, Illinois, Bobbi Morris of Perrysburg, Ohio; her step-great-great grandchild: Scarlet Flinn of Bloomfield, Indiana; a sister-in-law: Bertha Brosman; special friends: Zane Kentner and Amber Braaten; along with several nieces and nephews.


Along with her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by two brothers: Clifford Taylor and Olan Taylor; and one step-granddaughter: Penny Starkey.


Maggie was a 1954 graduate of Westville High School. She retired from Danville District #118 working in food service in the cafeteria. She also spent time working the concessions at the David S. Palmer Arena in Danville, Illinois. She attended Central Park Church of Christ in Tilton, Illinois and was a member, and past president, of the American Legion Post 210 Ladies Auxiliary. Maggie was also a member of the Iris Chapter #307 Order of the Eastern Star, and recently treasurer and Grand Electa for Grand Chapter 2010. Maggie enjoyed reading, especially Danielle Steele novels, crocheting, plastic canvas needlework, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and playing Bingo. Most of all, Maggie enjoyed spending time with her family.


A Celebration of Life for Maggie will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois. Pastor Raymie Gordon will be officiating. A burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Danville, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5PM-7PM on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the funeral home in Danville. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 6:45PM on Monday, August 19, 2024, also at the funeral home.


Memorials in Maggie's name may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star Home Fund.
