Margaret L. Harris

Margaret L. Harris of Mahomet, IL. passed away on Monday, January 31, 2023 in Kingwood, TX. She was born on September 24, 1933 in Unity Township, IL. the daughter of Charles and Mabel VanVleet.

She is survived by her daughters; Cheri Harrison (Ronald), Lori Smith (Jonathan), son; Kenneth Harris, grandchildren; Erin Cannon (Michael), Jessica Vannauker (Barry), David Smith, Adrienne Price, five great grandchildren; sisters, Jane Robbins, Susan Smith; brothers, Ronald VanVleet and Joseph VanVleet.

She was a graduate of Monticello High School. She married her husband, Harley Hal Harris on December 25, 1955 and dedicated her life to being a mother and homemaker. She and her husband, Harley lived in Mahomet before moving to Texas to be closer to family and were long time members of First Christian Church in Champaign, IL.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years, Harley Hal Harris, sisters; Freda Ellis, Helen Benson, Mary VanVleet, brothers; David VanVleet, Charles VanVleet, Donald VanVleet and son; Mark Allen Harris.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 10am-11am at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 1102 Churchill Rd. Mahomet, IL. 61853 with a service to follow at 11am. She will be interred at Grandview Memorial Gardens with a brief committal service to be held in the mausoleum.
