MARGARET KATHERINE BRAIN Margaret Katherine Brain, 93, of Danville, passed away at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Margaret was born on October 2nd, 1917, in Alvin, Illinois, the daughter of Charles Harrison and Hortense R. (Smith) White. She married John Emil Brain on December 10th, 1944 at her parents home in rural Alvin. He preceded her in death on October 21st, 1996. She is survived by four children- Linda Day of Danville, Mary (Lester)Moore of Rossville, John (Nancy) Brain of Bismarck and Sara (Rick) Andrews of Alvin; eight grandchildren- Beth (Mark) Juvinall of Danville, Matthew (Juany) Day of Danville, Mark Day of Duluth, Minnesota, Scott (Carol) Moore of Oakwood, Kristie Moore of Greenwood, Indiana, Jim (Julie) Brain of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Tricia (Billy) Hagley of Bismarck and Michael Andrews of Alvin; eight great-grandchildren- Brent and Belinda Brain, Andrew and Anthony Juvinall, Ahmani Day, Madyson and Bryce Moore and Dalton Hagley; two brothers- Bill (Evelyn) White and Lloyd (Maxine) White of Alvin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother and son-in-law- Melvin Day. Margaret graduated from Alvin High School. She was a homemaker and spent her time helping Emil on the farm in the Rossville and Alvin area. Margaret was a member of the Alvin Christian Church her whole life. She enjoyed growing flowers, especially violets, and collecting dolls. Margaret was always known for her garden and canning vegetables. She also enjoyed making pillows, rag rugs and quilts. She enjoyed working and doing things for people. A Celebration of the life of Margaret Katherine Brain will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 at the Alvin Christian Church, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Burial will be in Gundy Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home.
