Margaret 'Jeanne' Conklin

Margaret Jean "Jeanne" (Kinney) Conklin, 78, of Danville, passed away November 29, 2021, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, IL, with her husband of 55 years by her side.

Jeanne was born November 19, 1943, at home in Catlin, IL, the tenth child of William and Helen (Stenner) Kinney. She married George W. "Noki" Conklin at the Friends Church in Ridge Farm, IL, on May 6, 1966. He survives.

Also surviving are their sons, Shawn D. (Lara) Conklin of Oakwood, IL, and Erich S. (Cherlyn) Conklin of Wamego, KS, and their granddaughter Kira Conklin, of Oakwood, IL, --- Jeannes pride and joy.

Other survivors include three of her older siblings, Lois (Ronald) Warner of Catlin, IL, Kenneth (Doris) Kinney of Collinsville, IL, and Edith (Joe) Earl of Lakewood, CO, and more than 35 nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Jack, Lee, Albert, Bill, and Joe Kinney, and one sister, Dorothy Peevler.

After graduating from Catlin High School in 1962, Jeanne took secretarial work and lived in an apartment at the YWCA until she met and married Noki. While she continued working part-time for several years after marriage, Jeannes true vocation and greatest joy was making a home for her family. She held down the fort at home while her husband served in the National Guard in addition to his full-time job for twenty years. Hers was the home all the neighborhood kids would come to after school, or to hang out in the pool during summers. She was rightfully proud of the men her sons became and the families they made.

Jeanne was happiest when she was baking for friends and family, or hosting a holiday get-together for her very extended family. Her chocolate-dipped ginger snaps were the best. She loved decorating the house for all holidays, but especially Christmas. Her ceramic Christmas village and train were legendary.
