Margaret J. Gudgel

Margaret J. Gudgel, 88, of Champaign passed away at her home on June 13, 2024. She was born in Urbana on March 29, 1936, the daughter of Glynn and Nancy Bermingham. On April 4, 1955, Margaret married the love of her life, Donald J. Gudgel Sr. and they spent 64 wonderful years together until his passing in 2019.

Margaret is survived by her children, Donald J. (Deanna) Gudgel Jr., Donna J. (Michael) Berry, Debra J. (Terry) Scott, David J. (Julie) Gudgel; grandchildren, Jason Gudgel, Katie Gudgel, Lindsay Nickell, Kelly Vallowe, Lance Berry, Cody Bebout, Jamie Garrett, Troy Gudgel, Ashley Beamer, 22 great-grandchildren, and sister, Mary Davis.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Glynn P. Bermingham, and Ronald (Toby) Mullvain, sister, Vicky (Jim) Kirk, and brother-in-law, Dan Davis.

Margaret worked for Niemann Foods for many years and met many friends before her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and spending time in her garden. Margaret loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 1pm to 2pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Champaign, Illinois 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, Illinois. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 2pm with Pastor Jim Blue officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign, IL.

Memorial donation may be made in Margarets name to the American Cancer Society.
