Margaret Hume

Margaret Belle Hume, age 87, of Muncie, IL passed away at 9:50 pm on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born June 16, 1921 in Danville the daughter of Lester E. and Vinia (Moore) Shick. Margaret married John E. Hume on November 28, 1947 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Danville. He preceded her in death in 2003. She is survived by three nephews: Robert A. (Irene) Phebus, Richard (Barbara) Phebus, and Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Hume. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother: Lester Shick, two sisters: Mary Jane Phebus and Catherine Thompson. Margaret worked as a secretary for Consolidated Products for eight years before becoming Post Mistress at the Muncie Post Office. She had thirty years of service before retiring. She loved being outdoors watching the animals, especially birds. She enjoyed raising dogs with her husband. Margaret was a member of the Holy Family Church. A celebration of life mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville with Father Ted Pracz officiating. Burial will follow the service at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel.
