Margaret Godels

PALM DESERT, CA - Margaret Godels, 94, of Palm Desert, CA, formerly of Westville, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Odyssey House Hospice in Palm Desert, CA at the age of 94. Margaret was born on September 30, 1912 in Westville IL, the daughter of Louis and Anna Kotcher. She married Charles A. Godels in Terre Haute IN on May 10th, 1935. She was resident of the Brighton Park Community of Chicago IL for 61 years before residing with her son Jeff, and daughter-in-law Joanne, in Palm Desert, CA, in 2001. She is survived by: her sons, Roger Godels of Charleston, SC, and Jeff Godels of Palm Desert CA; her grandchildren, Kimberly Bernthal of Winston-Salem, NC, Charles Godels of Palm Desert, CA, Karrie Godels and Brent Godels, both of Yachats, OR; and her sister, Florence Ghibaudy of Westville IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; Charles Godels, her brothers; Louis, Edward, Fred, Joseph and George Kotcher, her sisters; Marie Gainey, Anna Mackelwich, Helen Manz, and Elizabeth Kotcher. She worked as a seamstress sewing mens and Cub Scout hats for 30 years before retiring at the age of 63. She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Chicago IL for over 50 years. A celebration of Margarets life will be held at Noon, Saturday, August 18th, 2007, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, Illinois. Father Brunskill will officiate. She was cremated in Palm Desert. Her ashes will be buried next to her husband, Charles, in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Westville, IL.
