Margaret Elnora Grothe

Danville - Margaret ElNora Grothe, 90, of Danville passed away on July 30, 2022 at Pleasant Meadows in Chrisman, IL.

Margaret was born on September 1, 1931 the daughter of Marshall Omer and Lona Lee (Allison) Johnson in Beach Grove, AR. She married Victor Raymond Grothe on May 1, 1949 in Fairfield, IL and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2013.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha Williamson of Danville, her son, Bill (Julie Ann Townsend) Grothe of Urbana, granddaughter, Rachel Williamson (Todd) Davis of Danville, IL, grandson, Rob (Andi Tarquini) Williamson of Perrysville, and great granddaughters, Lauren Davis (Bradlee) Sexton, Audrey Williamson and Hart Williamson

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years, Victor Raymond Grothe, brother, Kenny Johnson, sister, Omer Lee Thomason Brown, infant sons, Chester Kent Grothe, Larry Grothe, daughter, Mary Ruth Grothe Reiss and son-in-law, Randall Williamson.

Margaret was a long-standing member of Church of Christ in Fairfield IL then Rantoul IL and finally Danville IL. She was a Daycare provider for over 40 years, loving and caring for those entrusted into her care and also served as a Foster Care mother. Margaret enjoyed sewing and making hand-made quilts in her free time.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Robert Cox will officiate. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Margarets name to the Senior Activities Fund at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living.
