Margaret Ellen Freeman

Margaret Ellen (Ellis) Freeman, 97, of Champaign, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman, IL. She was born on August 28, 1924, in Eugene, Indiana, the oldest daughter of eighteen to Clarence Ward and Ellen Jane {Henderson} Ellis. She was united in marriage to Orie Finney Freeman on June 13, 1944, in Paris, IL, until his passing. Margaret will be missed by her children, William Freeman, Mary (Jimmie) Elliott, Russell (Karen) Freeman, Debra Underwood, & Ellen (Paul) Frost. She was the beloved grandmother and great grandmother of many devoted grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Robert Freeman, and her several brothers & sisters. Margaret worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in health care for many years and worked until the age 65. She was a member of the Georgetown Friends Church and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed sewing and was a great seamstress and was known to crochet beautiful things. Margaret also enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. While she tolerated her childrens pets, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. A Celebration of Margarets life will be held at 2:00pm (CST), Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor Jim Hollingsworth officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service on Sunday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ridge Farm. Memorial donations may be given in her name to donors choice of charity.
