Margaret E. Millikin

Margaret E. (Peggy) Millikin, 96, passed away at 4:10 pm on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, Illinois. Born October 28, 1919, she was the youngest daughter of William H. and Daisy L. Ford. She married Jack R. Millikin on September 27, 1940 and enjoyed a 75-year marriage. She is survived by her husband, two sons; James F. (Ann) of Danville and Paul S. (Sue) of West Chester, OH, four grandchildren; Jim (Diana) Millikin of Nolensville, TN, Bill (Ann) Millikin of Lebanon, IL, Cheri (Mike) Swanson of West Chester, OH, and Jon Millikin of Algonquin, IL, step-granddaughter; Rebecca Clawson of Danville, IL, and five great-grandchildren; Gabrielle, Julia, and Christopher Millikin and Ben and Sara Swanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Francis Songer, Martha Nelson, and Doris Conover, and one brother; William H. (Bill) Ford. Peggy and Jack were long time members of the Danville Boat Club, Danville Country Club, and Danville Elks. As a young mother, Peggy served as PTA president at Edison Grade School and was an active volunteer for Lakeview Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. In 1971, she and Jack started Millikin Real Estate while continuing to run the longtime family business, Millikin Cleaners. Peggy enjoyed playing cards, especially with her family, reading, and spending time in Naples, Florida, where they vacationed for many years. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00am at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Danville, with visitation an hour before the service.
