Margaret Lorraine Divan Hill, 93, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2008. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her rural Bismarck home after a long struggle with Alzheimers. She was born March 26, 1915 in Armstrong, IL, the daughter of Frank Boots and Alie Elizabeth (Hobbs) Fletcher, both preceded her in death. She married John Benjamin Divan on January 31, 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1985. Margaret then married Willard Martin Hill of Homer in April 1988 and he preceded her in death in 1994. Margaret is survived by two sons, Rev. Dennis (Janice) Divan of Catlin and John Michael (Josie) Divan of rural Bismarck; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Divan of Danville; a sister, Rita (Harry) Plotner of rural Oakwood; a brother, Ed (Ruth) Fletcher of rural Oakwood; a sister-in-law, Montrose (Otto) Divan of Potomac; eleven grandchildren, Tony (Patty) Divan and Mark (Valerie) Divan both of Hawaii, Denise (John) Divan-Warnke of Ridge Farm, Dana (Cindy) Divan of Attica, IN, Darla Divan and Jody (Cale) Boyd both of Catlin, Brooke (Jeff) Parsons of Idaho, Jim (Cathy) Lawhorn of Covington, IN, Stacey Waclaw of Bismarck and Teresa Pollock, Bob Pollock, and Cindy Waclaw all of Danville; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a special cousin, John (Shirley) Fletcher of Georgetown and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Norman (Sandra) Divan; a sister, Mildred (Jerry) Anderson and a brother, Glen (Alma) Fletcher. Margaret was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church in Newtown, IL. She lived most of her life in Newtown, IL. Margaret was a homemaker and worked beside her husband, John, for 51 years. She had worked at Skellys truck stop in Oakwood as a cook in the mid 1970s. Margaret loved to have big family gatherings and always had a pot of coffee on and an extra place at the table. She never met a stranger and always welcomed people into her home. Margaret was a wonderful caregiver to her family, showing her love in so many different ways. She was an excellent cook and loved sharing her wares with family and friends, the grandchildren always loved her special huckleberry pie. Margaret loved playing the piano, singing and listening to music. She also enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and liked camping, fishing, crocheting and cooking for her family. Her family and friends are blessed with many happy memories and she will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank a special caregiver for the past two years, Stacey Waclaw, whose compassion and love was shown in her devotion and attention to Margaret. A celebration of Margarets life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel with Richard Fortier officiating. Burial will be at Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel at 105 E. South Main Street Oakwood, IL.
