Margaret Bird

Danville Margaret (Spain) Bird, 91, of Danville, IL passed away at 11:08 PM on March 18, 2019 at North Logan Healthcare in Danville, IL.

Margaret was born on December 1, 1927 the daughter of Mose and Gertrude (Poulson) Spain in Butler Township Vermilion County Illinois. Margaret married William Bird on July 1, 1945 in Potomac, IL and he preceded her in death on August 20, 1983.

Survivors include two sons, Frank Bird of Rantoul, IL and Bill (Susan) Bird of Potomac, IL; one daughter, Janet (Daniel) Irwin of Champaign, IL as well as ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and twelve great great-grandchildren.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband; William, one daughter, Carol Arrowsmith; two brothers, Richard and French Spain and three sisters, Pearl Spain, Esther Underwood, and Helen Charles.

Margaret graduated from Potomac Township High School, attended the Southside Church of the Nazarene in Tilton, IL and was retired from the Housekeeping Department at United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, feeding the birds and squirrels, watching her TV programs, listening to Country Music and going on car rides with her friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834, with Randy Holden officiating. Burial will be in Potomac Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019, from 5:00 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials in Margarets memory to the Southside Church of the Nazarene or the charity of the donors choice.
