Margaret A. "Maggie" Sams

Cayuga, Ind. - Margaret A. "Maggie" Sams, 76, of Cayuga, passed away at 11:20 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton, Indiana with her family by her side. She was born March 31, 1937 in Georgetown, Illinois, the daughter of the late Dorothy Hogatt Mahoney Lennon and John R. Mahoney. She married Phillip W. Sams on May 11, 1957 in Georgetown, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1997. Survivors include one daughter, Diana R.(Darrell Patterson)Swartz of Cayuga, Indiana; one son, Phillip J.(Penny Woolwine)Sams of Covington, Indiana; seven grandchilden, Cari(Ryan)Sams Sowers; Brittany(Cody)Swartz Gooding; Trey Sams; Bree Swartz; Zach Swartz; Jacob Sams and Jon Sams; sister in law, Marie Mahoney of Cayuga, Indiana and special friends, Maureen Socha; Barney Gillis and Eric Swartz. Maggie was preceded in death by her step father, John Lennon; son, Mark Sams; granddaughter, Marki Jo Sams and brother, Michael J. Mahoney. Maggie was a medical receptionist at the Cayuga Community Health Center for the past 22 years for Dr's. J.F. Swaim and Peggy Sankey. She attended the Cayuga Church of the Nazarene. Maggie was a 1956 graduate of Argo High School in Chicago, Illinois. She enjoyed shopping, dancing, her dog, Sam Sams and spending time with family and friends. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Saturday, June 1, 2013 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev.
