Marcetti Goldenstein Buenting

Marcetti “Marci”  Buenting, 78, of Gifford, IL, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at her home. She was born November 18, 1946 in Champaign, a daughter of William and Tena (Huls) Goldenstein.  She married Jeffrey David Buenting on July 7, 1984 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville, IL.  He preceded her in death on October 11, 2022. Marcetti taught English at Rantoul Township High School for 16 years. She was a past member of the American Association of university Women, Rantoul Township Hish School Education Association and Illinois Education Association and National Education Association and East Illinois University Alumni Association. She was also a member of Champaign County Farm Bureau and Immanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by nephews and nieces – William (Brenda) Wilken, Susan (David) Schmiedeler, Danielle (Joe) Lammert, Elizabeth (Joe) Rotz, Hannah (Aaron) Bathchelder,  Kailey (Jacob) Blasingame, Conner Buenting.  Great-nieces – Lexie Wilken, Lillian Rotz, and Zoey Rotz. Brothers-in-law - Ken (Julie) Buenting, Gary (Linda) Buenting and a mother-in-law Rita Buenting. She was preceded in death by a sister Wanda Wilken. Marcetti graduated from Rantoul township High Schol and Eastern Illinois University.  She did graduate studies at University College, Oxford University, England. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville.  Rev. Scott Smith will officiate.  Burial will follow at Beckman Cemetery Visitation will be for an hour prior to the service. Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul is handling the arrangements.
