Marcy Buyno, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at her daughters home in St. Louis on Saturday, November 28, 2009, after a long illness. She never allowed her illness to conquer her spirit or generosity and was an inspiration to those whose lives she touched. Marcy was born February 21, 1925, in Goodland, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel and Margaret ONeil Molter. In 1961, she married John Buyno; he preceded her in death on September 16, 1989. Marcy was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Keith and Raymond Molter. Those who will miss her include her daughters, Rosemary Buyno, Mary (Jon) Buyno Mann; grandchildren, Ryan, Sean and Aidan; sister Rita; brothers Samuel, Lloyd and Richard and many friends and family. Marcy was a graduate of Indiana University, earning a degree in Education. She began her teaching career in Indiana and continued as a Kindergarten and First Grade teacher in the Georgetown School District for 34 years. After retirement, she continued to tutor children. Throughout her years as a teacher, Mrs. Buyno was instrumental in teaching many children to read. One of her greatest joys came from witnessing childrens amazement and delight when discovering they could read. Marcy was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church and was the church organist for over 30 years. She was actively involved in church activities throughout her life. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown with a rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 5, with Father John Paninski officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either the Pinecrest Elementary School Library or the Georgetown Public Library.
