Marcella May Chasteen

Marcella May Chasteen, 85, of Maryville, Tennessee, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Tenn. She was born on March 14, 1926 in Fonda, Iowa, the daughter of Ike and Emma (Malm) Duitsman. Both are deceased. On January 6, 1951, Marcella married Richard "Dale" Chasteen in Searcy, Arkansas. They were married for 40 years, until his passing in October 1991. Survivors include one daughter; Janie A. Chasteen of Maryville, Tenn., and one son; Steven (Kay) Chasteen of Bloomington, IL. Also surviving are her two grandchildren, two sisters; Marjorie Hike of Fort Wayne, IN, Marylou Reeder of Lafayette, IN, and one brother; Bill (Betty) Duitsman. Marcella was a Danville High School graduate, and received her nursing degree from the former St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville in 1948, where she provided excellent care and worked her whole career at St. Elizabeth, retiring as a Registered Nurse in 1988 after 40 years of service. She was a member of the Batestown Methodist Church, and she will be missed by everyone that knew her. A Celebration of Life Service for Marcella M. Chasteen has been scheduled for 12:00pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. IN Danville with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00am on Wednesday, until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the Chasteen family has asked that all donations be made in Marcella's name to the Batestown Methodist Church.
