Marcella J. Young

Cayuga, Ind. - Marcella J. Young, 81, of Cayuga passed away at 7:29 p.m. EDT Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana.

She was born May 16, 1937 in Silverwood, Indiana the daughter of the late Shirley and Catherine (Thompson) Kester.

Marcella married J.R. Young December 6, 1983 in Kingsland, Georgia and he survives.

Survivors include her daughter: LaVonda (Randy) Krout of Williams, Indiana; son: John (Virginia) Witsman of Pooler, Georgia; step-children: Jim A. Young of Georgetown, Illinois; Pam (Kenny) Elliott of Seminole, Oklahoma; Deborah Young of Seminole, Oklahoma; Cheryl Young of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Susan (Wes) Womack of Seminole, Oklahoma and John (Diana) Young of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Also surviving are three grandsons; four great-granddaughters; 11 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Betty S. Dowers, Mildred Hutchens and Helen Jackson.

She formerly worked at General Electric in the early 60's and also local florist. She was a 1955 graduate of Kingman High School. She was a member of the Perrysville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 350, John Wallace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Wabash Valley Steam & Gas Club. She was a former member of the Vermillion County Optimist Club. She enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, watching birds and going to the Covered Bridge Restaurant to meet with her friends.

Funeral service: 2 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 2, 2019 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Burial: McKendree Cemetery in Georgetown, Illinois; Visitation: Noon EDT until time of services on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the funeral home.
