Manley J Cork

Danville - Manley J. Cork, 89, passed away on March 28, 2016 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. He was born on December 3, 1926 in Danville, the son of Charles Manley & Genevive S. (Wilson) Cork. Manley married Hannabelle Goers on October 12, 1952 in Clinton, IA. Manley is survived by his sons Kevin (Terri) Cork of Danville & Brian (Pam) Cork of Flat Rock, IL; grandchildren Christopher (Jennifer) Cork, Nicole Ebert-Lee, Andrew (Miranda) Cork, Captain Nolan (Captain Danielle) Cork (United States Army), Carlee (fianc Dan Bauer) Cork; five great-grandchildren; sister Patsy (Dean) Puzey; one special niece Dr. Josie (Dr. Ed) Burkhalter; three special nephews Captain Richard (Linda) Howson (United States Navy - Retired), Gene Johnston, & Roy "Butch" Howson Jr.; and special friends Richard & Marylou Huckstadt. He is preceded in death by his parents & wife. Manley served in the United States Air Force as a cryptographer during World War II. He was a lifelong athlete, and played fast pitch softball until age 45. Manley enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, and walking around the neighborhood with his dog, Casey. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Sunday April 3, 2016 from 3-5pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday April 4, 2016 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made in Manley's name to the American Cancer Society or Danville Humane Society.
