Mahlon White

Alvin-Mahlon White, 94 of Alvin IL. passed away at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette, IN on December 7, 2016. He was born on December 1, 1922 in Boswell, IN the son of Walter and Edith (Clary) White. Mahlon was a lifelong farmer. He started farming with his father on their farm in New Richmond while he was still in school leading his first team of horses at the age of 10. He drove his first tractor at the age of 16. He became a full-time farmer upon graduating from New Richmond High school in 1940. In 1948 the family sold their land in New Richmond and purchased a farm in Hoopeston IL. Mahlon and his brother, Richard, sold the family farm in Hoopeston in 1960 and moved to Danville. They purchased a farm on State route 119 near Alvin, where they then moved to one year later. On September 19, 1970, after establishing his farm, Mahlon married his beloved wife, Mary Green, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville. They enjoyed spending time together on their farm and traveling until her passing in 2008. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61834 will be handling arrangements. Visitation will be held from 10am-11am on Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church 1303 N. Walnut St. Danville Il. 61834 with service to follow. Father Bo Schmitt will be officiating.
