Maggie Ilea Brown, 85, of Danville, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at Danville Care Center. Maggie was born on October 21, 1924 in Missionfield, Illinois, the daughter of Herman and Julia Permelia Meelie (Mefford) Hicks. She married Orville Brown on May 8, 1943 in Danville. He precedes her in death. She is survived by a daughter- Janice Adolph of Danville; two grandchildren- Tabitha (Mike) Litman of Grafton, Wisconsin and Tobi Adolph of Fithian; two great-grandchildren- Kendra Pundt and Evgeni Anderson both of Fithian; special friends- Ruby Moulton, Donna Hicks, Linda Porter, Lee Cronkhite and Jim Crook all of Danville; and some nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Jimmy Brown, two brothers- John and Gilbert Hicks, sister- Norma Hamilton, nephew- Jack Johnson and two special friends- Henrietta Hancock and Anna Mae Shumaker. Maggie was a member of Westside Nazarene Church and the former Douglas Park Nazarene. She enjoyed playing piano and singing in the church. A Celebration of the life of Maggie Brown will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Gary Farris officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Westside Nazarene Church.
