Mae F. Shelton, 90, of Danville, passed away at 5:32pm on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Provena USMC in Danville. She was born on April 11, 1920 in Gibson County, IN, the daughter of John Sebastian and Mabel Fredricka (Brothers) Romerhausen. Both are deceased On December 23, 1939, Mae married William Bill Shelton in Princeton, Indiana until his death on January 6, 2008. Surviving are two children: Lonnie (Janice) Shelton of Danville, and Darla (Carroll) Lenberg, of Cumming Georgia. Six grandchildren, Darlene (Miguel) Perales, Linda (Van) Lewsader, Lonnie (Katie) Shelton, Kimberly (Harley) Winegardner, Kristina (Dave) Hinebaugh, and Tim Shelton, eight great-grandchildren, Ashley and Amanda Lewsader, Austin and Mitchell Perales, Rylee and Ryan Shelton, and twins; Alexandra and Alissa Hinebaugh., and her sister; Iona Virginia Dossett of Rockville, IN, also survive her. In addition to her husband Bill, and her parents, three brothers, a sister, and two infant granddaughters preceded Mae in death. Mae attended Ft. Branch grade school and High School. Not only was Mae a devoted house wife, but also worked many hours with Bill at their farm. Both Mae and Bill were instrumental in the Washington Tractor Cade, the American Agriculture Movement, which took place on February 16, 1981, as well as the Great Soybean Raid at the Ristine Grain Elevator. She enjoyed all things involving farming as well as raising her own garden. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Life for Mae F. Shelton will begin at 2:00pm on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with private burial at Sunset Memorial Park following the service.
