Mae Helen Camarata

Danville Mae H. Camarata, 97, of Danville passed away at 11:35 AM on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Accolade of Danville. She was born on November 26, 1926 in Catlin, IL to Robert and Aline (Bishop) Doggett. She was one of 12 children. Mae married Guy Camarata on July 16, 1949, who precedes her in death.

She is survived by her sons, George (Connie) Camarata and David (Brenda) Camarata, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Mae was well known in the community as a warm and friendly full-time retail associate at Elder Beerman in Danville until she was 88. She always made sure to bring a smile to work, and a cake for anyones birthday. At home she loved gardening, watching the birds, was very handy and loved her tools. Her cooking served up many holiday memories. She was a devout Catholic, praying the rosary daily. Family and neighbors pitched in to make sure she could live at home, until earlier this year where a decline in health led her to move into a nursing home.

She was extremely kind and will be missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mae Camarata will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 11, 2023 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Danville. Father John Cyr will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 12 - 1 PM prior to Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 has been entrusted with services.
