PARIS- Mr. Madison Dean Baird, 75, of Paris, IL, passed away at 10:45am on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Baird was born on February 22, 1930, in Indianola, IL, the son of Orval N. and Irene H. (Minnick). Both his parents precede him in death. On August 28, 1954, Dean married Ms. Laura E. Rumple at the Hopewell Friends Church in Indiana. Laura survives and resides in Paris. Dean will be missed by his wife Laura of 51 years and his son, Madison W. Baird of Kirkwood, MO. Also surviving are his three brothers, Jack (Mary) Baird of Indianola, Donald L. Baird of Indianola, and Carrolle (Sara) Baird of Indianola, as well as his two sisters, Arsellia Collins of Indianola, and Mina (John) Bowers of Paris, IL. Dean is preceded in death by his parents, his six brothers, two sisters, and one infant son. Dean was an Indianola High School graduate and attended Danville Area Community College. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany after WWII. His was honorably discharged and began working for the railroad after returning to the states. He was employed with various railroad companies, including: C&EI, Missouri-Pacific and Union-Pacific, retiring from the railroad in 1992. Dean was also employed with the Jefferson County Printing Co. for the DeSoto Missouri Newspaper. Dean was a member of the Georgetown Community of Christ and a member of the Paris American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, mushrooming and picking berries as well as being with his family. A celebration of the life of Mr. Madison Dean Baird is scheduled for 10:00am on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Georgetown Community of Christ located at 201 Oak St. in Georgetown. Elder Alex (Margeva) Lakebrink will be conducting the service. Final resting place will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola, IL. Visitation is scheduled for 4-6pm on Monday, January 9, 2006 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Memorial contributions may be given in Deans name to the Georgetown Community of Christ.
