Madeline Ruth McMillin, 90, of Danville, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, October 30th, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Madeline was born on October 23rd, 1921, in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of Graham "Earl" and Lydia Louise (Steinwedel) Watson. She married A. Howard "Hobby" McMillin Jr. on May 9th, 1941 in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 3rd, 1980. She is survived by three sons- A. Howard "Mick" (Joni) McMillin III of Danville, Gary W. (Paula) McMillin of Fithian and Scott A. McMilllin of Indianapolis, Indiana; one daughter- Susie (Bob) Piatt of Danville; one brother- Don (Annette) White of Perry, Georgia, whom she helped raise after their mother passed away; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; special nephew- Brad Pollert and several other nieces and nephews; and close friends- Vi Techtow and Virginia Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter- Megan McMillin, one great-granddaughter- Jenna Rose McMillin, and two sisters- Doris Pollert and Mary Pickett. Madeline attended high school in Seymour, Indiana. After her mother got sick she left school to take care of her mother and brother Don. In 1971, she obtained her GED from DACC. Madeline was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the Eunice Society at the church. She was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Madeline loved to travel, especially on cruise ships. She loved dancing and won a Charleston Contest in Seymour, Indiana when she was younger. Madeline also loved family gatherings and was a great cook. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to everyone who took great care of Madeline while she was at the Hawthorne Inn, Provena ICU and to Dr. Sohdi and his staff for their great care. A Celebration of the life of Madeline Ruth McMillin will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Madeline's name to the Trinity Lutheran Church Eunice Society.
