Madaline Dorthulah {Fleming} Sykes, 93, of Georgetown, passed away at 3:00pm, Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Presence Covenant, Urbana. She was born on March 31, 1920, in Georgetown, the daughter of Albert Donald and Jessie L. {Byerley} Fleming. She was united in marriage to Orville D. Sykes on April 28, 1939, in Newport, IN, until his passing on February 11, 1995. Madaline graduated from Georgetown High School Class of 1938. During WWII, she worked at Will-Macs in Danville and later worked for Woolenwear in Georgetown for 13 years. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. Madaline was an avid Cubs fan, and also, enjoyed going bowling and dining out with her friends. She loved being with her family and grandkids. Most of all, Madaline loved her son, Gary, & family. She will be missed dearly by: her son, Gary (Shelly) Sykes of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Brian Mosier of Urbana & Kristen (Erich) Mosier-Hess of Dana, IN; her step-grandchildren, Tristin, Trey, Trinity, & Ty Seripinas, all of Georgetown; and her great grandson, Evan Hess. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her son, Raymond Mosier; her 5 sisters; & 3 brothers. A celebration of Madalines life will be held at 10:00am, Friday, November 15, 2013, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be 4pm-8pm, Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203, Georgetown.
