Mabel I. Willis 90, of Indianola, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Saturday September 26, 2009 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. She was born January 20, 1919 in Georgetown the daughter of William and Victoria (Whitecotton) Reed. She was united in marriage to James W. Willis on January 8, 1937 in Danville. He preceded her on October 26, 1997. Those who will miss her are her son James R. (Patsy) Willis of Indianola, her grandchildren; Kimberly (Calvin) Smith of Georgetown, Karla Scott of Indianola, Amy (Robert) Fillers of Indianola, Debbie (Steve) Smith of Terra Haute, Tammy Hill of Danville, Lori High of Georgetown, great-grandchildren; Kala Fillers, Latasha (Frank Stanis) Fillers and Nevan Grant all of Indianola, Jenny (James) Peoples of Alabama, Calvin (Heather) Smith of Indianola, Great-great Grandchildren; Katelyn and Austin Peoples of Alabama, Keirstynne Smith of Indianola, also survived by other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Beverly Hayworth and three sisters and two brothers. Mabel had worked at the former Republic Plastics in Georgetown for 25 years, she enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and tacking care of her grandchildren. A celebration of life funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday September 29, 2009 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Officiating will be Pastor James Blue. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Monday September 28, 2009 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola.
