Mabel Stempien

Mabel Stempien, 99, of Westville, passed away at 4:41pm, Monday, June 20, 2011, at Provena USMC, Danville. She was born on September 5, 1911, in Homer, IL, the daughter of Jesse E. and Sarah F. {Tiffin} Kirby, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Judy Stampa Stempien until his death on March 23, 1981. She is survived by many nieces & nephews. Mabel enjoyed reading, crocheting, and fishing. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #51 in Westville. A celebration of Mabels life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, a Life Celebration Home, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be 10-11am, Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the funeral home with American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Service at 10am. She will be laid to rest in G.A.R. Cemetery, Homer, IL.
