Mabel E. Tanner

Mabel Tanner, 95, passed away, June 9, 2015 in Urbana, IL. She was born July 7, 1919 in Plainfield, IL, the daughter of Lloyd and Jean (Earls) Davis who preceded her in death. She is survived by her dear daughters, Sharon (Chuck) Jones, Pat Brazelton; her cherished grandchildren, Buddy Wheeler, Jackie Wheeler, Glen Brazelton and Rhonda Brazelton; by her 3 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; as well as other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernie Tanner, of 61 years when he passed away on September 1, 2006, they were united in marriage September 4, 1945 in Logan, West Virginia; by her parents; a baby sister; by her brother, George Davis and a great grandson, Mathew Wheeler. Mabel retired as President from the Oakwood Bank after 50 years and served on the board of directors even after her retirement. She enjoyed gardening very much including all kinds of flowers, trees and plants. Loved ceramics and tole painting. Mabel enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and her family. A celebration of life service will be held at Sunset Oakwood Funeral Home, 105 E. South Main St., Oakwood, IL 61858, on Friday, June 12, 2015. Visitation will be from 10-11 am, with funeral service at 11 am, followed by interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
