GEORGETOWN - Mabel F. (Thompson) Chapman, 92, of Georgetown, went to be with her Lord on March 22nd, 2006, at 11:55am while residing at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. She was born on January 6th, 1914, in Indianola, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Nancy Nannie (Cope) Thompson. Both her parents preceded her in death. On July 9th, 1938, Mabel was united in marriage to Harold Chapman in Crown Point, IN. He preceded her in death in October 1984, after 47 years together. Mabel will be missed by: her daughter, Susan (Ronald) Mills of Odessa, MO; her granddaughter, Seritte Mills; her two brothers, Donald (Betty) Thompson of Michigan and Hugh (Rebecca) Thompson of Texas; her several dearly loved nieces, nephews, and her dearly loved great-great niece, Amanda; her sisters-in-law; and several special friends that have touched Mabels life throughout the years. Her brother-Glen Thompson, her three sisters-Wilma Williams, Barbara Blatteau, and Helen Hepburn, preceded her in death. Mabel was a 1931 Indianola High School Graduate. She was a member of the Georgetown Friends Meeting, the USFW and she enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling, helping with church functions. She especially cherished time spent with her family and friends. A celebration of Mabels life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 25th, 2006, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home at 200 E West St, Georgetown, IL. Pastor Jerry Vincent will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola, IL. Visitation will be 1p-3p on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Mabels name to Georgetown Friends Meeting and/or the American Diabetes Association.
