GEORGETOWN - Ivan Jim Howard, 88, of, Georgetown passed away at 10:30 a.m. Sunday February 12, 2006 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. He was born on January 24, 1918 in Westville, IL the son of Jacob and Viola May Shuman Howard. He married Daisy Bell Vandevender on November 2, 1940 in Newport, IN. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1973. Survivors include: three sons, Kenneth (Sharon) Howard of Danville, Gerald (Cindy) Howard of Westville, and Wayne (Rita) Howard of Fithian; one daughter, Bonnie (Wayne) Harden of Cayuga, IN; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter, and six sisters. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He retired from General Motors in 1977 after 30 years of service. Jim was a member of the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. He enjoyed fishing and mushrooming and liked watching Cubs and the Bears. He also enjoyed reading the Bible. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday February 15, 2006 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. Officiating: Pastor James Blue. Burial: Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
