Martha Jeanette Mensavage, 93, of Westville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Hospital in Danville, Illinois. Jeanette was born the daughter of Juvenal and Reba (Hendrix) Delaunois on August 15, 1931, in Belgum, Illinois.
On November 23, 1953, Jeanette married the love of her life, Felix Mensavage, and together they shared many wonderful years. She leaves behind her two children: Victor (Sherri) Mensavage, and Susan (Mick) Wardle; grandchildren: Megan (Alex) Tufano, Morgan (Vince) Gnolfo, Parker (Paige) Montin, Joshua (Aggie) Donaldson, Jeremy Donaldson; great-granddaughter Madelyn Grace Tufano; a very loving friend Dreama (Glenn) Mueller; two nieces: Kris Anaya, and Karen Bennett; one nephew William Isenhower; and her very loved dog Slinky. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother Robert, her sister Lucy, and her mother-in-law Belle Mensavage.
Jeanette worked as the head cook for Westville School District #2 for many years. She was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, contributing to Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and serving as the Youth Choir Director. Jeanette also played a key role in maintaining the church building. As a founding member of the Depot Committee in Westville, and an initiator of the Westville Sports Boosters, she was always deeply involved in her community. Jeanette also ran her own catering business.
However, nothing was more important to Jeanette than her family, with whom she cherished her time dearly.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 3:30-7:30 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 414 South State Street, Westville, Illinois, 61883. The service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 311 Moses Avenue, Westville, Illinois, 61883. Pastor David Roberts-Mosser will officiate. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Jeanette’s name The Westville Depot committee, or Trinity United Church of Christ.
