Lynn R. Sherman

Lynn R. Sherman, 87, of Georgetown, went to be with the Lord at 6:50am, Saturday, August 6, 2016, at his home with his family by his side. Lynn was born on March 1, 1929, in Georgetown, the son of Thomas B. and Myrtle {Neal} Sherman. He was united in marriage to Hilda Hoaks on April 26, 1958, in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by: his sons, Jim (Donna) Sherman of Bloomington, IL, and Roger Sherman of Georgetown; his daughter, Chris (Ken) Roundtree of Phoenix, AZ; his brother, Lee (Rosanne) Sherman of Georgetown; his seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his son, Joe; two brothers; and one sister. After several years of service, Lynn retired from General Motors Tilton Foundry. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Georgetown. He was an avid fisherman and a big Cubs and Bears fan. He will be missed. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown, with Pastor Matt Filicsky officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Lynn's name to United Methodist Church of Georgetown Renovation Fund. Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home assisted his family with arrangements.
