Lyle Markwalder, 76, of Potomac, and presently of Heritage Health: Therapy & Senior Care in Hoopeston, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Lyle was born August 26, 1940, in Watseka, IL to Harry and Violet (Jernagan) Markwalder. After graduating from Cissna Park High School and attending Devry Technical Institute in Chicago, he married Judy Withers on November 29, 1959 in Cissna Park. Lyle was a gifted entrepreneur. He owned and operated Markwalder Marathon, a petroleum sales business, as well as D&J Marathon, a gas station and automotive repair shop in Potomac from 1978-2004. He enjoyed model trains, building computers, surfing the internet, rooting for the Chicago Cubs, and traveling. He always looked forward to his annual trip to Florida. Lyle loved spending time with family and socializing with friends at Steak n Shake several days a week. He leaves behind his wife, Judy; his children, Jeff (Becky) Markwalder of Potomac, Jody (David) Craigie and Jill (Darren) Daubenspeck both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brent (Amanda) Markwalder and Brooke Markwalder; and a sister, Norma Eugenides of Joliet. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Violet. A celebration of Lyle's life will be held on Monday February 20th at 2pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial immediately following at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday February 19th at Sunset Funeral Home 3940 N Vermillion in Danville from 4-7pm. Memorials may be made in Lyle's name to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
