Lyle E. Irvin, age 76, of Danville, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born December 31, 1931 in Rankin, IL the son of Elmer Harlan and Blanche Mae (Fisher) Irvin. Lyle married Janet G. Rice on April 29, 1978 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving Lyle are his three daughters: Eloise (Walt) Sigman of Seattle, WA; Amy (Mark) Bartenschlag of Danville, Rachel (Eric) Koester of Fairmount, one step daughter: Gaye Jurgens of Effingham; one step son: Joe (Mary) Hopkins of Tolono; seven grandchildren: Michael Bartenschlag, Stacy (Luke) Prunkard, Tuesday Koester, Jade and Hunter Jurgens, Jacob Hopkins, Carrie Lehnert and his beloved campanion Snickers. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters. Lyle graduated from East Lynn High School in 1950. He then attended and graduated from Worsham Mortuary College in 1956 with an Associated Degree in Mortuary Science. Lyle had been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1953. He served as Vermilion County Coroner for 18 years until his retirement. During Lyles retirement, he worked at Sunset Funeral Home as a Funeral Director Assistant. He was a past president and member of the Vermilion County Museum. Lyle was also a member of the Vermilion County Funeral Director Association, past president and member of the Illinois Coroners Association, and a lifetime member of the Hoopeston Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Danville Consistory and Central Christian Church of Danville. Lyle touched many peoples life during his services to community and will be sadly missed by all that knew him. A celebration of the life of Lyle Irvin will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Crossroads Christian Church in Danville with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Memorial donations in Lyles name can be made to either the Vermilion County Museum Endowment Fund or the church or charity of the donors choice.
