Lyle E. Winkler, 88, of Danville, went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2016. He was born July 28, 1927 in Tilton, IL to Coleman & Viola (Kincade) Winkler. Lyle married Betty L. Bump on December 16, 1943. She preceded him in death December 21, 1999. He later married Mary E. Neal, she preceded him in death. Lyle is survived by daughters Karen (the late Keith) Grubb of Danville, Connie (Leo) Matry of Oakwood; one son Lyle "Budd" (Suzan) Winkler of Danville; eight grandchildren Kim (Scott) Crouch, Keith Grubb, Jeff (Rhonda) Grubb, Doug (Debbie) Winkler, Darin Winkler, Kevin (Wendy) Lynch, Shannan (Troy) McCarter, Chad (Story) Lynch; 11 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Virgil (Janet) Winkler & David (Coleta) Winkler; 2 sisters-in-law Barbara Winkler & Kay Winkler. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 2 daughters Diana 2 grandsons Randy Durbin & Brian Lynch; 2 brothers Dale Winkler & Paul Winkler; one sister Patty Acord; & one brother-in-law Dewey Acord. Lyle worked at General Motors retiring in 1985. He enjoyed his farm raising cattle & other farm animals. He enjoyed cookouts with his family & special friends. He was a member of Cedar Grove Church of the Nazarene. Lyle served in the United States Army in 1945 & was honorably discharged in 1946. A celebration of Lyle's life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Wednesday March 16, 2016 from 1-3pm with service to follow at 3pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park next to his loving wife Betty. Officiating will be Pastor Bill Wiggins & Pastor Ron Ingram. Memorial donations can be made in Lyle's name to the American Heart Association or Cedar Grove Nazarene Church.
