Lula Mae Jackson, 96, of Rantoul passed away Saturday (March 11, 2023) at home.

She was born May 30, 1926, in Tampa, Fla., a daughter of Elijah and Susie (Blackshare) Perry. She married Ronald Jackson, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1987.

She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn (Willis) Mitchell; five grandchildren, Paula Mitchell, Kenneth Mitchell, Matrid Fletcher, Erma (Michael) Brown and Christine Mitchell; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a mother of the church. She was a humble and caring soul. She was always available for her family with good advice or a kind word.

A celebration of life will be at 2 Friday afternoon at Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1500 Sheppard Place, Rantoul. The Rev. Otis Evans Sr. will officiate. Her ashes will be placed in Danville National Cemetery at a later date. Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, is handling the arrangements.
