Covington, Ind. --Lula Belle Mycroft, 78, of Covington, Indiana, passed away at 2:11 p.m. EDT Monday, October 19,2009 at her residence in Covington. She was born August 28, 1931 in Fountain County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Lucille Davis Ping. She married Carl Vanis Mycroft on July 9, 1949 in Covington, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1997. Survivors include: one son, Carl(Sabrina)Mycroft of Veedersburg, Indiana; four grandchildren; three step grandsons; one great granddaughter; two great grandsons; three sisters, Ruth(Bill)New of Danville, Illinois; Marilyn(Tom)Allen of Covington, Indiana and Carolyn(Don)Ridge of Rosedale, Indiana; three brothers, Walter Ping of Covington, Indiana; Darrel(Liz)Ping of West Lebanon, Indiana and Luther Ping of Perrysville, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickey S. Houmes; one grandson, Dustin Houmes and one brother. Lula Belle formerly worked at Morris Flamingo in Danville, Illinois. She formerly attended Mount Carmel Church. Lula Belle was a babysitter in the Covington area for many years. She enjoyed mushrooming and raising flowers. There will be no services. A private family gathering and burial of cremains will be held at a later date at Coal Creek Cemetery south of Covington, Indiana. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
