Luis A. Martinez

Danville – Luis Alberto Martinez, 42, of Danville, passed away at 5:04 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born on February 28, 1984, in Mexico to Fausto and Sonia (Garcia Costillo) Martinez. He married Mazee Long on February 5, 2016, in Danville. She survives.

He is also survived by his four children, Zhian, Zhalina, Zhavier, and Zhayden Martinez; his father, Fausto Martinez; sister, Natalie Martinez; and a sister-in-law, Lanee (Ryan) Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sonia Martinez, and his grandparents.

For the last two years Luis had worked at Greenwood Plastics in Danville. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and was especially talented at working on cars of any kind. He loved his family dearly and always enjoyed the time they were able to spend together. Most of all, Luis’ loved his children and will be remembered as an incredibly loving father to them. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.

A service to celebrate the life of Luis Martinez will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL, 61834. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, October 1, also at Sunset in Danville.
