Lucie 'Lucy' Drake

Danville Lucie "Lucy" Marondola Drake, 86, of Danville Illinois, passed away at 1:46 am on July 11, 2021 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. Lucy was born on November 1, 1934 the daughter of Filippo and Marie (Capistola) Marandola in the Borough of Manhattan, New York, NY. She married Richard "Dick" Drake on May 24, 1953 in New York City and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1995. Survivors include her "My Three Sons", Richard (Susan) Drake of Danville, Tim (Connie) Drake of Danville and Ron (Kenda Morgan) Drake of Danville, grandchildren, Philip, Andrew, Vincent, Anthony, Derek, Cody, Thomas and Daniel Drake, thirteen great grandchildren as well as two brothers, Benny (Carol) Marandola and Anthony (Joyce) Marandola and sister, Marie Victoria Garrett. Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dick, sister, Esther and great granddaughter, Gwendolyn. Mom never lost her big city New York accent, even though she raised her family in the Midwest for 68 years. She retired from the memorable Chuckles Candy Factory in Danville. In her younger days, she was a champion archer and competed at various archery tournaments over the years. She enjoyed traveling, collecting carnival glass and various antiques. Mom loved to cook, especial her Italian spaghetti dinners, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. A Private Committal Service was held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Manns Chapel Cemetery. Cremation rites were accorded, and burial is in Manns Chapel Cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 assisted the family with arrangements.
