Lowell Hafner, 85, of Danville, passed away at 1:22am on Saturday December 20, 2008 in the palliative care unit at the Illiana VA. He was born November 13, 1923 the son of Edward and Janet Montgerard Hafner. Lowell retired from Lauhoff Grain Co. in Danville. He was a WWII veteran and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Lowell enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, camping, fishing, gardening , and mushroom hunting. Lowell is survived by his wife Alice, children Gail (Linda) Hafner of Danville, Mike Hafner of Kentucky, Nancy (Ron) Wilson of Huber Hgts., Ohio, Daniel Hafner of Gilbertsville, Ky., Jon (Carol) Hafner of Danville and Carol (Greg) Fritz of Lewisburg, Oh.. Stepsons Mike Price of Danville and Jeff Richardson of Thomasboro,Il. 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lowells parents, brothers Earl, Max, Harland, and Norman Hafner, sister Janet Stanis, former wife Evelyn Ashby Hafner, grandson Travis Wilson, one great granddaughter, and stepson Gary Price preceded him in death. A celebration of Lowells life will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday December 23, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate.
