Fithian - Lowell L. "Bud' Hanner, 87, of Fithian passed away at 2:15 AM on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on December 16, 1927 in Oakland, IL to Roy H. and Ethyl (Campbell) Hanner. He married Julia Ann Wyatt on June 21, 1948 in Paris, IL. She preceded him in death in 2000. He is survived by three sons, Greg (Becky) Hanner of Chrisman, Doug (Delora) Hanner of Oakwood, and Jeff (Donna) Hanner of Fithian; five grandchildren, Darenda Curry, Allison Rollins, Michael Hanner, Gregory Micah Hanner, and Bethany Hanner; and eleven great-grandchildren, David Hanner, Abigail Rollins, Ainsley Miller, Brandon Rollins, Deakon Hanner, Jaxon Wilson, Savanah Hanner, Dalton Curry, Cherokee Hanner, Gracie Hanner, and Trevor Hanner. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. Bud served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion, Post #210. He was also a member of the Batestown United Methodist Church. Bud's passion was baking and cooking, cakes and cake decorating being his specialty. He had worked as a chef at the Wolford Hotel for over 20 years and baked with Arnholt Bakery for 38 years, but also with the Sheridan Hotel and the American Legion. Aside from his cooking, Bud loved antique cars, especially Studebakers, square dancing, and doing his own mechanical and remodeling work. Bud also loved Mudd Racing and was a big part of Hanner Racing. A service to celebrate the life of Lowell "Bud" Hanner will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Patti Wise will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, October 12, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to Batestown United Methodist Church or the Darenda Curry Fund, c/o Catlin Bank in lieu of flowers.
