Louise Laing Wright, 82, of Danville passed away at 8:30 AM on June 6, 2026 with her family by her side.
Louise was born on April 4, 1944 the daughter of Louis and Madalon (Laing) Holycross in Chicago, IL. She married Lyle Lee Wright on November 27, 1965 in Bismarck, IL and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2026.
Survivors include her children, Robin (Ryan) Christie of Noblesville, IN and Chad (Jodi) Wright of Danville, IL, five grandchildren, Grant, Madelyn and Sophia Christie all of Noblesville, IN and Carley and Kendall Wright of Danville, IL, two brothers, Michael (Rose) Holycross of Bismarck, IL and Orville (Irma) Holycross of Chesterfield, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Lyle Lee Wright.
Louise graduated from Methodist Hospital school of nursing in Indianapolis, IN in 1965 where she earned her degree as an RN. She cared for countless patients as an RN, as well as taught in the nursing assistant program at Danville Junior College. She spent the majority of her career at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Danville where she was the Head nurse of the OR and ICU. She retired from the VA in 2005. She was a member of the Lambda Tau Delta local sorority and attended St James United Methodist Church in Danville, IL. She enjoyed spending her free time working on landscaping projects and flower gardening, cooking for family gatherings, cheering on the Illini basketball team and the St Louis Cardinals, and she loved spending time with her 5 grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Stephanie Spangler will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the funeral home in Danville, IL.
