Louise G. Owens

Louise G Owens, 96, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL. She was born on August 16, 1923, the daughter of Joseph and Sofie (Kohlheier) Thomas in Mondelange, France. She married Orville Owens on September 8, 1945 in Chatel St. Germain, France.

Louise is preceded in death by both of her parents, Joseph and Sofie; her husband, Orville; as well as a son, Tom; and siblings, Joseph, Theresa, and Albertine.

Louise leaves behind her children, Dale Owens of Danville, IL, Tom (Kathy) Owens of Wyoming, MI, and Denise (Kirk) Griffin of Catlin, IL; grandchildren, Brad (Kathy) Owens, Christine Owens, Corbin (Suzanne) Owens, Mary (Joe) Price, Jeff (Katie) Griffin, and Daniel (Taryn) Owens; great grandchildren, Laura, Kayla, Delainee, Briar, and Saige Owens; and some family in France; sister, Elizabeth (Andre) Reitz, several nieces and nephews, and their families.

Louise was educated in France and worked as an interpreter at RTO in Metz, France. She was a World War II Warbride that came to the United States on April 2, 1946, just after marrying Orville. Louise was a skilled seamstress and tailor. She used her skills at her job of 20 years at Meis and Elderberman, where she retired from in 1998.

The family would like to thank Autumn Fields and OSF who provided wonderful support and care to the family and Louise.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at St. Pauls Catholic Church, 1303 N Walnut St, Danville, IL. Father Bo Schmitt will officiate the service. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial donations may be made in Louises name to St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville.
